M3 - Unit Popped Open - Swollen Silver Packet

I'm wondering if my problem is the super capacitor - the item in question is a small silver packet that has swollen up. Image on unit started “fluttering” like liquid on Sunday morning. Could it have been caused by heat? Is it possibly a defective capacitor? I know that the internal temp of the unit gets to be quite hot - I sense this when I eject the SD card. Any help would be appreciated.
