GPS software crashing (windows)
I'm using the GPS software for the first time. Dash camera was installed yesterday and I did 2 recordings today, to and from work. I can play all videos with VLC player, but when I use the Rexing software it crashes after just 1 second of video play. The other problem is that no matter which video I play, it only plays 1 second of the first video from 6:30am. I have removed and reinstalled the software and it did not fix the problem.

Thank you for contacting Rexing.
Please try firmating the sd card and create new videos.
Try the new videos and let us know if that helps.
If not, you can try doing a firmware update to resolve this issue.
Update firmware.
- Go to the https://www.rexingusa.com/support/firmware-tool/ to find the firmware for your camera model
- Download the correct firmware zip file for your camera
- Unzip the file
- Format your SD card using your dash cam’s Format function
- Copy any firmware files to the root (not inside any folders) of your SD card
- Insert your SD card into your camera
- Power the camera on by connecting it to power
- Format the SD card after waiting 5 seconds.

I am having the same problem with the GPS software crashing. You would think that with the latest software posted on the website of last July (software name includes 20190718 which seems to indicate it was released on July 18, 2019), they should have had plenty of time to fix the problem. I can play my videos using any other video playing software with no issues at all. It's hard to believe there has not been an update in over 6 months given that there are probably lots of people with this problem. I sent a message to Rexing via email and received the same advice as what is in this thread. I did verify that I had the latest firmware and I reformated my disk using the format utility on the camera. Please get this fixed.

I've had my Rexing DVR for several months. I have to be very careful when using the player. I'm not sure if it doesn't like how I try to load files or what, but it will close before I have the slightest chance to find the video I'm looking for. It does this over and over and over.

Mine is crashing too and this crazy that this has not been fixed by now. The people above me reported this two years ago.

Apparently, 2 years later, this issue has NOT been corrected. I downloaded the player for my V1-4K and it, too, crashes after just a few seconds. I had just left my house, but the GPS showed me 3 miles down the road. Also, I do not have any words in the upper left corner of the window when I open the program. When I select update, another small windows pops up saying "updating" and just sits there. I had it up for over an hour with no changes. What the HELL????? I will be sending the GPS logger back! What's the point of having it if Rexing's player does not work?

I have the same issue!! Bought this dash cam, and hardwired it into my truck and the GPS module, I can play the videos on any video player with no problem, But the second I try to use the GPS software from your website, IT SHUTS DOWN AFTER A SECOND!! How can you be aware of a problem for 2 YEARS with no solution? I'm stuck with the camera sadly, but I will be recommending to anyone I know NOT to buy this product until after a fix has been implemented.

I think you might have better results with this software. I know it works with my RedTiger cameras and I think I tested it with my Rexing after I gave it to my son.

Great...So I install the dash cam, install the app, and im having the exact same problem. I come here and see messages from YEARS ago people reporting this and their support responding at first and then just ignoring their customers. I really wish I had seen this before I bought the camera. Luckily it's still in the return window so I can go get another brand. That is pathetic that you sell a dash cam with an app that dosn't work for years.

Also, for anyone else that happens to come here, I just tested the RedTiger software the previous commenter mentioned and IT WORKS GREAT! Thank you!!!!!

Glad it worked for you Jeremy! It's hard to believe Rexing has just sat around not fixing this problem. Lack of support for this software issue from Rexing was one of the reasons I bought my RedTiger cameras. I'm happy with the cameras but it would have been nice to be able to get my Rexing working and save some money by not looking for an alternative.

Ya I mean it works but I am still not getting many of the features that I was expecting when I bought this thing. Complete rip off that it has been YEARS and they just keep selling this device knowing that if you aren't a mac user you're not going to be able to do half the things you are supposed to.

Here we are. June 6th, 2024. The software still doesn't work properly.
1. Latest firmware installed on camera.
2. Latest Rexing GPS Player software loaded to Windows
3. GPS plugged into Rexing Camera
4. Camera is making clear videos.
5. I can replay the videos on any MP4 player. When playing back, the speed and coordinates are showing in the bottom of the video, so obviously, the plug in GPS is working.
6. When trying to play back a video on Rexing's GPS Player software, it always tries to play the top video, even though I've selected a different video.
7. After 2 seconds, the player shuts down and closes.
Note: The Red Tiger player does not recognize the GPS data from the Rexing file.
Come on Rexing, you're better than this.0
