Hardwire kit draining battery so much car will not start.
Greetings. I have a V1 3rd gen using a Rexing hardwire kit.. It drained the battery so much the car would not start. Anyone else having similar problems?

There's always a high chance of your battery draining heavily when you have the hardwire connected to the always hot fuse.

I have had the same issue. I now unplug my system when I leave the car. Sort of defeats the purpose but I have to. I also have a battery charger in my car to help if this happens.0

If you are using the hardwire kit and you don't need the camera to run 24/7, then you can simply change the fuse location to one that is on/off with the ignition. What this does is, it turns on the camera when your car's engine starts and turns off the camera when you turn your car's engine off. That way, you aren't continuously disconnecting the power manually.0
Therefore, you would only use the red wire connector on the hardwire kit? Or do you plug both connectors into a switched source?0
I am new to this as well, however it appears to me that they are inferring that you would put both connections to switched power. However, this will disable the parking mode.0
What parking mode? Asking about it in another thread. The hardwire kit is supposed to have under voltage protection. Is Rexing saying that this is not true? What is the module on the hardwire kit for? If it doesn't work as some kind of voltage protection it could have been just two wires.
A few hours of having this camera and I'm already seeing lacking features and customer service responses that contradict the selling points.
This may need to be returned. For $200 it should work.0
John Thornton - I believe that you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the product and how it is designed to work.. Maybe your model does not have a parking mode, I don't know. But the dual wiring is so that the device has access to ignition switched voltage AND constant voltage so that the device can operate when the ignition switch is off, such as when you are parked. The option has to be enabled in the camera's set up. You need to find two fuses, one that is connected to constant voltage and one that is connected to ignition switch enabled voltage. Your fuse box should be divided between these two different voltage sources and is not likely to be labeled, so you need to test this for yourself with a voltage tester probe or meter.0
