V5 Parking Mode issue
So I have a V5 and a rear cam with smart hardwire everything set up correctly. Parking mode is set to High and G sensor set to High. When I turn off the car, a few seconds delay and camera turns off. I slam the door, shake the car by jumping up and down (car is really bouncing up and down) and the camera doesn't turn on to record. I lightly tap tap the camera...it turns on and records 1 minute...and then turns off. I tap the glass where the camera is mounted and it turns on and records. Who the hell is going to be able to get into my car and tap the camera or even tap the glass...such a waste of money. I bought this to record someone hitting my car. and it can't even do that. support told me to make sure the yellow and red wire are connected correctly. hmm I stated it works but issue is...only when I tap the camera. I'm thinking its the sensor...its weak or cheap. anyone else have this issue? any solutions? By the way...I updated to the latest firmware. which was a hassle. would reboot and start up after it installed...and would keep running it over and over...I ended up popping the SD card out and restarting camera. then formatting the card.

Hi Paul, I just want to make sure you are using the smart hardwire kit and not the regular hardwire kit. Also I'd double check the connections. The G-Sensor in the camera monitors for hard vibrations, perhaps the tests aren't hard enough but may I recommend the new Intelligent hardwire kit which uses motion sensing which might work for your vehicle better.

I am using the smart hardwiring kit. I'm literally jump on my car and the car is bouncing up and down. However a light simple tap of the camera though starts the recording.
Why would I purchase a new cable that is made to make non parking mode dash Cams into parking mode dash Cams. I bought the V5 with Parking mode integrated. if the sensor is not good enough...isn't it Rexing job to make it right?0 -
will you send that cable free of charge? what will rexing do to fix this?

Hi Paul, The G-sensor is looking out for hard vibrations. If the car is bouncing up and down, it may not activate the sensor as imagine you are driving and every bump were to activate it and lock footages, you'd be locking footage all day while driving. I would perhaps simulate a crash by running into the car, big knocks, or even a big scratch. (When you tap the window and it records, that's a very good sign everything is working as should) The new intelligent hardwire kit does utilize the parking mode and if you want we can accept a return on the smart hardwire kit you have so you can get the new kit.

I tucked the wires in the pillars and do not want to undo everything and would have to buy new fuse taps. The intelligent kit looks like the same wiring as the smart hardwire kit but with the motion box. Can I order the intelligent kit and use the already installed current smart hardwire with the motion box? and then return the new wire instead? I just dont want to undo everything...it took me a few hours.

I suppose that works. However I'd like to recommend again that the parking monitor is working as is. A slam of the door doesn't generate enough force to wake up the camera because we close and open our driving doors everyday along with the shaking up and down of the vehicle. We really have not seen any complaints about the camera not picking up an accident due to the sensitivity of the G-sensor and we've sold the smart hardwire kit for years and years.

Got it. I understand the gsensor for when the car is on and being driven, to be less sensitive as normal to High speed accidents are high impact...but for parking mode...I guess I would hope/wish...it would be more sensitive and be able to adjust it to detect light impact and movement...when parked almost all situations are going to be light impact from someone backing into your car or shopping cart hitting your car etc. the chances of a 30mph and up impact is unlikely. maybe a firmware update to be able to make parking mode sensor more sensitive would be nice...the way it is now...I doubt it will turn on making it useless.

I agree with Paul Choe. I have the V1P-4K and I'm in the same boat. Current G sensor sensitivity range is only good for locking video during a crash (so basic/bare bones). Useless for parking mode. Perhaps allow a wider range to adjust the sensitivity or have a different set of parameter/range when parking mode is activated (constant power or use GPS to verify car is actually parked). With the current configuration, these Rexing dash cameras do not have parking mode. As mentioned above, Rexing parking mode is only good if car actually gets hit while parked causing major damage and even then, it only catches the "after the fact" event and if the car was hit on either side of vehicle, there's a good chance they won't be recorded. Someone could trash a vehicle and camera would never wake up and record. Vehicle could be keyed, scratched, dents from shopping carts, broken side and rear windows (a sliver of spark plug ceramic lol), tires slashed and car burglarized and you're SOL if you have a Rexing dash camera. What is the purpose of time lapse for a dash camera anyways? Let me see if my return window hasn't expired (T130 or B4K?).
Update: after watching a review for the U1000 which is currently $380 for 2 channel without radar, I take back my disappointment above and concluded that you get what you pay.

Apologies for reviving an old thread. 2 years later same problem I just got mine, same issue here.. the g sensor doesn't activate the cam in parking mode unless you hit on the windshield or the cam directly. extremely disappointed! I use the smart hardware kit and everything connected properly.
