Windows video player can not open the last videos (front & back) at the time when car is turn off.
I had been using my Rexing Dash Cam since Sep 2019. I had not experienced any functionality issues other than the one I am describing below.
- Rexing V1P 3rd Generation Dual Cam.
- Firmware Version: T5.96663.4689.20190729.01
Issue: Windows video player can not open the last videos (front & back) at the time when car is turn off.
Camera is set to record 1 minute videos. Windows media player has no issues playing video when they are a complete full 1 minute videos. Windows cannot plays videos when video length is than 1 minutes.
Action taken to mitigate damaged files issue:
- Micro SDX card replaced several times. Result: No change, same persistent issue
-
Testing steps with back camera disconnected:
- Formatted MicroSDX card with to clear it.
- Recorded 10 short videos by disconnecting power in 20-30 seconds intervals
- Result: One single file damaged out of 10 videos
-
Testing steps with back camera connected.
- Formatted MicroSDX card to clear it.
- Recorded 10 short videos by disconnecting power in 20-30 seconds intervals.
- Result: All 20 videos files damaged (10 front & 10 back videos). Windows player no able to play any of the videos.
Conclusion: Dash Cam supercapacitor does not seems to have enough stored power to save the last video file once car is turn off and power is lost.
I replaced the super-capacitor with new supercapacitor thinking it may be bad.
Used same capacitor as the original: "Bitwell supercapacitor BWC5R4355QG, 5.4V-3.5F"
Result: New supercapacitor made no differences. Same persistent issue.
This is a big issue as if I were to have an accident, the dash cam will most likely loose power, and the last file will for sure be damaged.
I am wondering if others in the community are experiencing "damaged files" when the card is turn off.

We have the exact same model front n rear dashcam, and my wife just got rear ended the other day, yet all we can watch is the recordings before and after the rear ender and not the actual footage of it happening. The car was running and the dashcam is continuously hooked to power source with the exact SD card inserted that it's compatible with and only year or so old, no accidents and now when we actually have one we can't see the videos needed to submit to our insurance company. Why have the dashcam then? Not sure if their's anything I can try to retrieve these videos? Thanks.
